Only 3 days to go

Well here we go... never been a blogger before but I thought it would be a great idea to create a public diary to document my steps over the 12 week Body for Life program. Mainly so that it will help spur me on having a record of my progress and to keep me focused on the program. Also to help and hopefully show people that this program is possible for anyone whatever shape and size you are. Plus knowing that if even 1 person I know reads this blog it will push me to complete the 12 week program otherwise I would lose face… and public humiliation isn’t even an option :P

For those of you who’s never heard for the Body for Life program it was created by Bill Phillips, a former competitive bodybuilder and owner of EAS (a manufacturer of nutritional supplements). Body for Life's exercise program is more complicated than its diet program. It suggests exercising six days a week, normally Monday to Saturday, and alternating between weight training and aerobic exercise. The seventh day, usually Sunday, is a rest day (referred to as the "free day", during which no exercise is done and unhealthy, normally fatty foods may be eaten). Weight training sessions alternate between exercises for the upper body and exercises for the lower body. This allows the exercised muscles enough time to recover fully before the next training session.
One of the keys to this program is the types and amounts of food as well as the number of meals per day. There is a focus on decreasing the intake and increasing the quality of protein and complex carbs the size of one's "fist" are eaten 6 times a day - this helps to increase the speed of the metabolism. So basically you are giving your body the food it needs in the small amount as it needs it… rather than gorging on 3 bigger meals a day where the body only can use half of the food that’s been eaten and the reset will be stored as fat.

So this isn’t going to be an easy ride… so your probably thinking why on gods green earth would I want to do this program?
Well the only answer I can give is just to prove to myself that I can do it and to prove to myself that I do have will power to finish anything that I start. I don’t want a rippling six pack as some of the success stories before and after photo’s show but just to feel fit and have an abundance of energy rather than the tiredness that I feel most of my waking day. I’m not getting any younger and sometimes feel older than I actually am… plus having 2 strikes already with Cancer does make you think about the body & mind.

So NO more excuses and NO more putting things off in 2010….

So my next update will be on the 1st January 2010.
Hope everyone has a Happy New Year!!
